Great Crested Grebe>> Habitat
Pulfin Nature Reserve is a reedbed with a spring fed water supply. It is a remnant of the formerley more extensive fendland which occupied the flood plain of the River Hull.

The adjacent High Eske lake is a borrow pit. It was enlarged in the late eighties when material was used
to strenghten the river banks. A tree lined bank seperates the two reserves.

Resident - Great Crested Grebe, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Greylag Goose, Gadwall, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Moorhen, Coot, Kingfisher, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Yellowhammer, Reed Bunting

Spring and Autumn - Garganey, Marsh Harrier, Dunlin, Ruff, Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Chiffchaff

Summer - Shelduck, Oystercatcher, Little Ringed Plover, Lapwing, Common Tern, Turtle Dove, Cuckoo, Swift, Sand Martin, Swallow, House Martin, Yellow Wagtail, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler

Winter - Little Grebe, Cormorant, Canada Goose, Wigeon, Teal, Pintail, Shoveler, Pochard, Water Rail, Golden Plover, Snipe, Redshank, Fieldfare, Redwing

The reserve is reached by footpath along the eastern bank of the River Hull. The path is accessed down the side of the public house at Hull Bridge, just of the A1035, east of Beverley.
