Friday 1st
Records from Swinemoor today included 4 Ruff, Wood Sandpiper and a Redshank. At Tophill Low 2 Turtle Doves, Green Sandpiper, Greenshank and Little Gull.
Saturday 2nd
A Hobby wa seen at Tophill Low together with Cuckoo over North Scrub and a Common Sandpiper at Watton Nature Reserve. At Swinemoor a selection of waders including 3 Common Sandpipers, Green Sandpiper, 3 Snipe, 2 Ruff and Wood Sandpiper.
A decent count of Dragonflies at Tophill Low today including 1 Red-eyed Damselfly, 2 Southern Hawker, 3 Migrant Hawker, 2 Black-tailed Skimmers, 1 Emperor Dragonfly, 15 Common Darter and 55 Ruddy Darters. At Paul Holme Strays sightings include Porpoise feeding near the lighthouse, Common Tern, 2 Whimbrel, 9 Turnstone and 1 Wheatear
Sunday 3rd
A Crossbill was seen in the car park area at Tophill Low today also Green Sandpiper, Greenshank and Common Sandpiper. A Reasonable amount of Butterflies were seen at Tophill Low today including Holly Blue, 10 Small Coppers, 30+ Speckled Wood, 5 or 6 Wall Brown, about 8 Gatekeepers, 5 Red Admiral, 5 Peacock and numbers of various Whites. At Atwick Velvet Scoter, Long-tailed Skua, 7 Manx Shearwater. At Broomfleet Island c100 Barnacle Geese
Monday 4th
Sea watching at Atwick produced 3 Manx Shearwaters, 2 Arctic Skuas, 2 Fulmar, 800 Common Tern, 300 Arctic Tern. Swinemoor Waders remain about the same but NO Wood Sandpiper. At Hornsea Mere 300 Little Gull, 45 Common Tern and 2 Arctic Tern.
Tuesday 5th
Sea watching from Atwick this evening produced 24 Manx Shearwater, 3 Great Skua, 11 Arctic Skua and 810 Little Gull.
Wednesday 6th
Records today from Tophill Low included 6 Crossbills around the car park area, Greenshank and Green Sandpiper from South Marsh East and a Little Gull was at Swinemoor.
Thursday 7th
A remarkable record today of 7 Honey Buzzards flying South East over Cherry Burton
Friday 8th
Sightings from the area today include Turtle Dove, Greenshank, Green Sandpiper and a good record of 16 Mistle Thrushes over in the Tophill Area and a Hobby was seen at Watton. 12 Little Gulls and this Greenshank were seen at High Esk.
Saturday 9th
A Marsh Harrier was seen from the approach road to Tophill Low today. At Hornsea Mere
2020 Little Gulls were counted along with 140 Common Tern and 3 Arctic Terns. At Paull Holme Strays today 1 Little Egret, 2 Avocet, Bar-tailed Godwit and Greenshank.
Sunday 10th
A few butterfly records today include Wall Browns at Paull Holme Strays and Tophill Low, Comma, Red Admiral, Green Veined Whites, Speckled Woods, Holly Blue, and a fair few sightings of Small Copper from around the area. At Swinemoor a Juvenile Wheatear was sighted. A few Dragonflies surfaced today including this Migrant Hawker at Tophill Low.

Records today from Swinemoor included 3 Common Sandpipers, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Curlew, 3 Snipe and a Wigeon

Saturday 16th
At Tophill Low today Little Egret, Greenshank and 2 Water Rails. Keith Allison has
e-mailed regarding the invasion of Harlequin Ladybirds into the East Riding and indicated
that many have been found in Thwaite Gardens in Cottingham and has sent this photograph of one which was on his car.
Sunday 17th
Seawatching at Atwick today produced a Balearic and 2 Manx Shearwaters.
Monday18th
At Tophill today Reed Warbler feeding nestlings on South Marsh West, 4 Greenshank on South Marsh East and 74 Little Gull on 'O' Res.

Tuesday 19th
A good selection of waders at Swinemoor today including Wood Sandpiper. At Hornsea Mere 670 Little Gulls and 3 Black Terns. Seawatching highlights from Atwick included 9 Arctic Skuas, Merlin and Hobby.

Wednesday 20th
Seawatching at Atwick today produced Arctic Skuas, 3 Tern Species, Whimbrel and Merlin.
3 Black Terns were at Hornsea Mere. An Osprey was observed for some minutes as it circled over Walkington then headed South East.
Thursday 21st
At Tophill Low Marsh Harrier, a family of 5 Kingfishers and a Water Rail were seen.
Records from Paull Holme Strays today include, 3 Wheatear, 4 Little Egret, 3 Greenshank,
Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, 33 Black-tailed Godwits and 20 Grey Plover.

Friday 22nd
Black Terns were still present today at Hornsea Mere 3 Juveniles providing the entertainment. Also there Kingfisher, 3 Common Sandpipers, c100 Little Gulls and a pair of Lesser Black-backed Gulls with chick. Offshore at Ulrome a few distant Skuas, probably Arctic, a light passage of Common Terns, Sandwich Terns and Fulmars. A Red-throated Diver flew North close in and on the sea a Red-necked Grebe was a welcome sight. At Tophill Low an Osprey passed over.

Saturday 23rd
Sightings at Tophill Low today included 80 Little Gulls, 2 Water Rails, Ruff and a juv. Gargany on South Marsh East.
Sunday 24th
Raptors seem to be the order of the day for Tophill Low with 3 or 4 Marsh Harriers seen around and an Osprey which spent a short time at Watton Nature Reserve in the morning before that or another appeared flying the full length of 'D' Res. heading south. Other birds here today included Ruff, Kingfisher, Green Sandpiper, 32 Little Gulls, Reed Warbler and Lesser Whitethroat. On the butterfly front a Painted Lady was observed near 'O' Res. this has been a scarce species this year.

Friday 29th
Sightings from Hornsea Mere today included Wheatear on Kirkholme, Juv Black Tern and
30 Little Gulls. At Ulrome the sea provided views of Sooty Shearwater, Goldeneye, 2 Common Scoter and 33 Bar-tailed Godwits
Saturday 30th
Sightings from High Esk today included KIngfisher and female Goldeneye. At Paull Holme Strays today include 9 Little Egrets, 7 Ruff, Common Sandpiper,
2 green sandpiper, greenshank, kingfisher, 3 avocet, artic skua, guillemot, 2 lesser whitethroat and 3 wheatear. Butterflies included small numbers of common blue, speckled wood, 5 small tortoiseshell, red admiral and 3 peacock.
Sunday 31st
The last day of the month has proved to be quite a busy day with sightings from all over the area. At Tophill Low a good record was the discovery of a Redstart along the straight side of 'D' Res. on the side of Barmston Drain. A Black-necked Grebe was on the reservoir itself. A Hobby was also seen at Tophill. Another Black-necked Grebe was reported from Hornsea Mere. At Barmston a report of a possible Kentish Plover at 5pm was tempered by notification that the bird had flown north. Seawatching reports came in today from Barmston to Atwick. At Barmston 40 Common Scoter, 2 Whimbrel, 7 Arctic Skuas, 2 Red-throated Diver and about 30 Little Gull. Atwick had 120 Common Scoter, Merlin and a Sooty Shearwater.
