This Great Northern Diver was present at Tophill Low until 5th January this year

The overwintering Bittern showed today ar Tophill Low. A member managed to get this

photgraph .

69 Curlew and 6 Shelduck at Tophill Low

Thursday 7th

Smew and Pintail at Watton Nature Reserve also 72 Curlew

Smew & Pintail again at Watton Nature Reserve

Grey Wagtail at Tophill Low car park

Saturday 9th

Birds at Tophill Low included a flock of c300 Fieldfare along the approach road

Brambling at the visitors centre and Smew still at Watton Nature Reserve

Sunday 10th

Brambling, Water Rail and Woodcock at Tophill Low visitors centre and 2 Buzzard over site.

Monday 11th

A Black-bellied Dipper is present along Watton Beck from the west side of the A164.

Take the public footpath from the west side of the main road opposite the turn off for Tophill

Low. Walk about half a mile to view the bird. Also Green Sandpiper here.

Tuesday 12th

5 Snipe at South Marsh East Tophill Low also Buzzard seen here and Smew once again

present at Watton Nature Reserve

 

Saturday 16th

The Black-bellied Dipper was reported again today at the usual site of Watton Beck

Smew, Water Rail, Woodcock and Brambling again today at Tophill Low,

along with 6 Pintail on 'O' Res. Snipe reported from Watton Nature Reserve

Sunday 17th

The Black-bellied Dipper was present again today at the usual site of Watton Beck

Smew, Water Rail, Woodcock and Brambling again today at Tophill Low

Monday 18th

A Firecrest was reported from Watton Beck Woods no details are known

Wednesday 20th

The Black-bellied Dipper showed very well again today at Watton Beck.

Thursday 21st

Reports from East Park Hull today include Bean Goose, White-fronted Goose and 16 Goosander on the lake

Friday 22nd

A Peregrine was seen at the south end of Tophill Low Reserve

Saturday 23rd

Black-bellied Dipper again reported from Watton Beck. Tundra Bean Goose, White-fronted

Goose and Goosander still in East Park Hull today

In addition to the above the usual Water Rail, Brambling and Smew were at Tophill and Watton N.R. respectively . Also a sighting of the resident White Pheasant at Tophill Low

Sunday 24th

A welcome sighting of a couple of Grey Partridge along the Tophill approach road and

2 Treecreeper seen at the 'D' Res Middle Hide at Tophill

Tuesday 26th

Records from Tophill Low today include a site count of 51 Gadwall, 13 Brambling,

Buzzard and a Mediterranean Gull on 'D'Res.

A Little Owl was seen today in the Ivy covered Ash tree near the Cawkeld turn off at

Kilnwick

Wednesday 27th

Little Egret and Green Sandpiper today at Storkhill Reserve, Hull Bridge. Snow Bunting

at Atwick. The Black-bellied Dipper showed well again today at Watton Beck watched by

a group of birders from Barton who also had good views of a Buzzard here which circled

the area and then went into the woods at the end of the stream.
