Sightings at Hornsea Mere today included, 2 Long-tailed Duck, 1 Sand Martin
1 House Martin, female Marsh Harrier, Tundra Bean Goose and 7 Pink-footed
Geese. A late record for today from Paul Holme Strays 223 AVOCET which if
verified would be a record count for the site.

Sand Martin and Swallow at Hornsea Mere today. At Tophill Low Sand Martin
and Little Ringed Plover
Friday 4th
In the Tophill Low area today Grey Wagtails, Redshank, Barn Owl, L R Plover,
c15 Chiffchaff and c20 Sand Martin
Saturday 5th
The first record of Yellow Wagtail for the year was at Kirkholme point Hornsea
5 Sand Martins at Hornsea Mere and at Tophill Low Swallow and the first
Willow Warbler of the year
Sunday 6th
Yellow Wagtail and Bean Goose still at Hornsea Mere . At Tophill c100 Sand
Martin, 12 Swallows, a male Blackcap ( singing in the car park) c 45 Chiffchaff
and 2 Willow Warblers were also heard. At Atwick 6 Twite and Black Redstart.
A Wheatear was reported by the lighthouse at Paul Holme Strays.
Monday 7th
Yellow Wagtail still at Hornsea Mere also White Wagtail. A LATE RECORD FROM PAUL HOLME STRAYS. 223 AVOCET ON THE 2ND APRIL.
Tuesday 8th
Pleanty of sightings coming in today including. Long-tailed Duck, Yellow Wagtail,
Grey Wagtail and Bean Goose at Hornsea Mere. At Swinemoor c500 Golden Plover, Little Ringed Plover, 21 Redshank and 2 Snipe. Tophill Low held 2 Little Ringed Plover, Green Sandpiper, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and a Marsh Harrier
went South. A Wheatear was seen at Atwick and 2 Wheatears were at Paul Holme Strays.

Wednesday 9th
A Greenshank reported today from Paul Holme Strays. And at Watton, Buzzard
and Grey Partridge
Thursday 10th
At Hornsea Mere a Black Kite was watched passing over at about 5pm. Two Cranes flew over Tophill Low this morning. At Welton Waters Chiffchaff, Blackcap and Willow Warbler were singing this morning. Also at Tophill today
pair Kingfishers N Lagoon, 2 Barnacle Geese SME, 2 Blackcap, Linnet and Barn Owl. Siskin also present

Friday 11th
At Tophill Low Kingfisher and a sprinkling of migrants including Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and Sand Martin.
Saturday 12th
A Black-necked Grebe was present on 'D' Res at Tophill Low today and an

Avocet was as HIgh Esk reserve. Common migrants are now being seen in
increasing numbers throughout our recording area.

Sunday 13th
The Black-necked Grebe was present again at Tophill Low and a Little Gull kept it company on the 'D' Res. Yellow & White Wagtails were also seen today along with a Barn Owl
Monday 14th
At Tophill Low today Black-necked Grebe, a selection of common migrants, a pair of Red-legged Partridge near the visitors centre, Little Ringed Plovers and Kingfisher.
5 Yellow Wagtails at Hornsea Mere this afternoon with Swallow and Sand Martin. 2 Twite were amongst the flock of c30 Linnets at Atwick.

Tuesday 15th
Sightings from Tophill Low today included Black-necked Grebe, Buzzard, Barn Owl, Increasing numbers of Hirundine including House Martins, Little Ringed Plover and Treecreeper.
Wednesday 16th
Reports from Hornsea Mere included Black-necked Grebe, 6 Pink-footed Geese
and 6 Sand Martins. At Tophill Low Common Migrants throughout the reserve and a small flock of 13 Yellow Wagtails along the straight side of 'D' Reservoir
Thursday 18th
At Tophill Low House Martin Swallow and Sand Martin numbers building up.
5 Yellow Wagtails and Little Ringed Plover at WNR
Saturday 19th
At Paul Holme Strays Greenshank, 44 Avocet and 7 Redwing

A Greenshank was on south marsh at Tophill Low
Tuesday 22th
Highlights from our area today included a Lesser Yellowlegs at Swinemoor Beverley other birds there included many Golden Plover in breeding plumage,
and Greenshank. At Bewholme 3 Ring Ouzels were seen today. At Tophill Low
5 Common Terns through and 2 Green Sandpipers.
Wednesday 23rd
The Lesser Yellowlegs was still present today with Greenshank, Ruff, Golden Plover Snipe, Yellow Wagtail, Black-tailed Godwit and 3 Whimbrel. 33 Arctic Terns Passed through Hornsea Mere early evening, also Common Sandpiper.
A Cuckoo was at Tophill Low along with a Brent Goose
Thursday 24th
The Lesser Yellowlegs was still at Swinemoor today as this excellent photo by

Friday 25th
Once again the Lesser Yellowlegs was at Swinemoor today also a pair of
Gargany and a Lesser Whitethroat. At Tophill Low 2 Black-necked Grebes
were on 'D' Reservoir, Lesser Whitethroat,Reed and Sedge Warblers,5 Siskin and a Green Sandpiper at Watton Nature Reserve.
At Hornsea Mere Reed Warbler and a Grasshopper Warbler was heard
reeling from the reedbed at 2nd field.
Saturday 26th
Lots of migrants building up in the area now including Whitethroat, Reed Warbler, Cuckoo, Swifts and Black-necked Grebes at Tophill Low. At Brough
Airfield Marsh 2 Avocet, Little Gull, 2 Pintail. 2 Avocet and Grey Plover at
Brough Haven and 2 Mediterranean Gull on the Humber at Welton Foreshore.
At Paull Holme Strays today, Little Owl, Peregrine, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Greenshank, Sedge Warbler and Yellow Wagtail
Sunday 27th
A remarkable 4 Black-necked Grebes on the 'D' Res at Tophill along with a supporting cast of 6 Swifts, Lesser Whitethroat, Common Tern and Marsh Harrier. Many Reed Warblers and Sedge Warblers including 14 around the North pond. A Cuckoo showed well from North Marsh hide and a Whimbrel
flew south close to 'D' Reservoir. A Little Tern was reported at 'D' Res. and
a Hobby was seen over 'O' Res.
Tuesday 29th
Reports from Tophill Low today include, Yellow Wagtails, Whimbrel and a Cuckoo was seen on 'D' Res Wall.
Wednesday 30th
24 Yellow Wagtails at Tophill Low together with Common Tern and a Turtle
Dove.
