North Marsh

Work was started on in early June 2008 to replace the old

damaged sluice at North Marsh. This is essential work and expected

to take a few weeks. Unfortunately this will inevitably cause some

disruption in the area around 'D' Res North hide until the task is complete.

Good News

3 Pairs of Common Terns bred on South Marsh East

and raised 9 chicks

How many will next year bring?

Memorial Plaques are now in place at Tophill Low North Marsh hide and at the Hornsea Mere Hide. The North Marsh plaque is in memory of Keith & David Norris. The Norris family do a lot for Tophill and in fact donated materials for north marsh hide and the new steps. The Hornsea plaque is in memory of Kevin Anderson who helped the group with many conservation tasks, the last being the construction of a boardwalk for the Hornsea Mere hide.

Conservation Work

Work has been ongoing over the last few weeks cleaning up at various sites within our area. Painting and Ragwort pulling have been the main tasks so far.

More help is required so if you have any spare time let the field officer know.
