North Marsh Sluice
Just an update to the sluice works that the project has now been completed and seems to be working well - it holds more water behind it than the old sluice as evidenced by the different levels between the two.

We have been doing a few updates on some of the displays in the centre to keep interest in the building and try and relay some of the information about what's going on around the site.
Two new boards have been put up detailing current habitat management work - hopefully we can keep everyone aware of what's going on and there will be no suprises!. Details of recent survey work have also been put up showing what's been going on around the reserve including sightings and discoveries beyond those of our birdlife.
Keith Allison has kindly put together a display on fungi around Tophill Low, and photographer Tony Robinson has donated a selection of his images for display too. All old photos have been carefully filed for future reference or re-display. If you have a pet subject or some great images to donate please get in touch with Warden Richard Hampshire who will be happy to try and put together a display.
Finally a thankyou to all those who helped with the recent open day. Due to the short time we had to put it together we did not get a great number of takers for the event, but the afternoon walk went very well with all attendees impressed by the site and it's wildlife along with the knowledge of MIchael Flowers and Roy who did a great job leading the walk. Plans are already being formulated for a higher profile event next year along with a sequence of walks and events over the coming months. Keep a look out for details of these as places will be limited on a planned bat walk, various bird walks and a presentation on otters by Jon Traill of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust amongst others...
